Ugh my back

Tried to get in a max deadlift in a short session.

Not enough hip warm up= hurt lower back.

That’s what I get for rushing. This might have already been coming but not warming up a ton definitely didn’t help either. Only got up to 355 before it started hurting.

Super tight now.

Terrible.

Friday I cleaned 235 with good form.

Monday I squatted 435 with better form than I did when I made 425 way back.

Today I snatched 170 after power snatching 160 and then loading 185 inadvertently and attempting it. 170 was a make on my 4th try. 185 felt like it will happen soon.

Who knows what might happen tomorrow.

Max out Friday better be ready.

About time!

Snatch PR today while lifting with Jon North, Travis Mash, and Rebecca Gerdon.

170 lbs. been a long time in the making.

5/1 training

Snatch pull, lower then hover to snatch (lower the weight until it almost touches the floor then go): 77, 95, 115, 125, 140, 150 

That 150 was basically one of the best snatches I’ve ever done.

Clean pull, lower to hover then clean (no jerks today my arms feel worse than terrible) : 95, 135, 155, 185, 215, 230x

215 was awesome form and 230 was there with good form just didn’t drive the elbows fast enough.

Squats: 135/5, 225/3, 315/3 …rushed through squats because I forgot I needed to leave earlier than normal today

Squat PR

435 lbs.

After 2 weeks of almost no squats.

Max out Friday

I was a little concerned about having bad form today so I worked hard mentally to do the right things.

3 firsts today…. 1). Missed a 155 snatch behind (hit my fat shelf on my lower back)…never missed behind before. 2) missed a 205 jerk behind also but only because I was walking toward jerk boxes and didn’t want to chance saving it. And 3) cleaned 235 with perfect form (for me anyway) ..missed the jerk

Overall good workout. The 235 full clean had to be a PR and definitely is my best clean in a long time.

Going under

It took me weeks if not a couple months to train my brain and body to go under weight on both snatch and cleans.

2 weeks ago I started getting frustrated on my cleans because I kept missing 215. I was mad because I’ve done more than that.

So after missing a week of training I came back desiring to move heavy weight.

So all week so far I’ve been power cleaning everything. 205 Monday easy, 185 for a complex yesterday. 205 w/ a pause at the knee today- easy.

Now I feel sufficiently screwed up in my form so I need to refocus on Monday and get my full clean back to normal.

Snatches are still in developmental mode so as long as I drop under and then move into the bottom position I feel good. That’s more a speed under and timing issue that is developing week by week.

Snatch: 148 (power)
C&J : 205 (power)
FS : 235/ 3x2
Clean pulls: 255/2, 275/3

Snatch: 155 (crazy power snatch so easy) missed 170 four times
C&J: 205, missed 230 three times on the clean portion

I really want to see some gains in my lifts. People are passing me up quickly in our gym. And the A squad guys are snatching what I clean.

Training today

Snatch w pause above knee: 115x2, 135, 155miss
C&J w pause above knee: 115x2, 155, 175miss
Timing and rhythm felt terrible.
Squats: 335/5, 295/5, 315/5x3, 265/10….terrible. I dare you to try 80% of your 1RM for 5x5 then do 70%/10 reps. From what I logged you can see I didn’t do the amount I was supposed to after my first set. 335 barely happened first set and 315 was rough on those last 2 sets especially.

Wrecked

I thought my workout did the job earlier today but apparently I wanted more.

So I moved a 112 lb TV downstairs to Kristen’s Jeep with no help. That thing isn’t so much heavy as it is awkward to hold and carry.

It wrecked me. But I conquered something that proves that I am stronger and healthier now than I was a year ago.
